Protective Styling: Box Braids

I want my fro to keep growing, so I did a protective style, BOX BRAIDS! Inspired by Solange's braids, I did these myself. I used 9 bags of hair, only because the sections are large and my hair is thick! I've gotten several compliments on them, even people asking me was this all my hair! LOL I braided them so they would look natural. They're not the best in the world, but they suit me just fine!

This is my first blow out since my big chop back in September.

I straightened my hair in December for the first time as well.

My hair is growing soooooo fast!!

Now that my hair is having a break under my weave, it should be growing even longer!

I can't wait to see my curls again.. No more weaves for me, just braids and other natural protective styles.

& Honestly, I feel COMMON. (harsh but true)

I miss my curls so much. :(

I paid $140 ($70 for 2 bags of hair and $70 for the install)

I've had it in for a month now.

It started out being 14 in. long, but now I cut it into a short bob...MUCH BETTER because even though it's cold outside, to me, its still to hot to have all that hair on my neck. LOL

Hey Ya'll!!

I am sooooooo obsessed with my hair...

I LOVE my curls, my kinks, even the little knots when I comb through my hair.

I LOVE how EASILY my hair curls up....

I'm just so happy!

I have this new confidence that I never knew I had....My hair is so beautiful.

Anywhoo, This is my WASH & GO regimen...I'm going to wear my hair like this for a couple weeks maybe months, I don't really want to mess with it too much...too much styling can hinder growth! :-(

I'm sure it will change as I gain more knowledge on how to take care of my hair, but this is what I have so far:

----I'm Co-Washing everyday with Creme of Nature Chamomile and Comfrey Conditioner (LOVE creme of nature, been using it since I was little...)

----I shampoo my hair ONCE a week with Creme of Nature Sunflower and Coconut Shampoo

----If I wear my Afro puff, I'll towel dry my hair and then apply Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil creme for dry hair, and pick it out.

----If I wear my curls, I will pat dry my hair, still leaving damp, with a paper towel (YES, I said a paper towel, lol) and apply my ECO-Styler Olive Oil Gel and a cute headband! ;-)

That's pretty much it for now!

I did it.

I couldn't wait any longer!

I CUT MY HAIR!!!!

I took out my kinky twists last night (9.9.10), I washed my hair and put it in a bun to dry...

I went to class and came home, sat in front of the mirror, ran my fingers through my curls and said to myself "why not..". I looked to my right and grabbed my scissors. The rest is history...LOL

I feel so free...

I shed a couple tears as I cut...but it was SO worth it!

I am in LOVE with my hair...

I am itching with excitement as my natural hair grows, pushing the relaxed hair out of the way...

My hair is still in kinky twists but the hair underneath is growing like a beautiful flower...

I cannot wait until January when I cut my relaxed ends off...... FREEDOM!!

(can't rock the teeny weeny Afro, because of my big big head! :-P)

I'm literally counting down the days y'all..... tick tock, tick tock.....

I'm so in love with the little curls that sprout from my "kitchen" and around my hairline....lol

I play with them all day, take a little grease on my hand and twirl the curls like a fork twirling spaghetti!

I think to myself, one word "beautiful"

I cannot wait y'all....

Natural Style: Kinky Twists

Hey ya'll,

Here's some pics of my new kinky twists. I got them last Friday and they're beautiful. I've never had kinky twists before so I definitely had to try them!

I was channeling the 80's today in honor of M.J.

I did a braidout and pinned half of my hair up on the side with 3 clips.

(extra thick hair people! LOL)

My mom said my hair looked like the leading lady's did in THRILLER.

I was ecstatic.
